Meet new people in London. Enjoy a fantastic array of social events and activities with great people! restaurants, badminton, tennis, sailing, theatre, nightclubs and more!! |
Entertaining London was founded in 1997 by Amelia Young. It soon became apparent that there was a high demand for just such a leisure lifestyle club in London for busy people from all over the world, one that was genuinely fun and relaxed, with a large calendar of events covering the entire leisure industry. Over the past ten years, Entertaining London has successfully developed and maintained it’s unique niche as the Capital's leading arts, nightlife, theatre, restaurant, sports and leisure club for the 20s/30s (up to early 40s) age range. EL focusses on creating a community for its members, with almost daily free and spontaneous "Just Turn Up" (J.T.U.) social events as well as great benefits such as 50% - 85% off theatre/concert tickets, discounted and/or at cost weekends away, skiing holidays etc. Just as importantly, in this age of busy social networking, the club still retains its original friendly, informal atmosphere with the emphasis first and foremost on hundreds of great people having fun, enjoying themselves and relaxing with like-minded people in London. Entertaining London membership is much appreciated and needed in today's stressful lifestyle as a great way to actually get out and about and meet some fantastic new groups of friends! Jasmin and Trevor, two popular EL members who met and recently got married through joining Entertaining London write:
In our case, we became friends as part of a circle of friends in the Spring of 2001, and eventually got together as a couple in February 2002, and have basically never looked back since. We got engaged in June 2003 and then got married in the Caribbean in April of this year. We maintain a good set of friends from EL and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy London, and widen their social network.
Basically, the club is what you want to make it.
Amelia Young - Entertaining London Founder and Director.Amelia is a professional Events Organiser with an Oxford degree and background in music. Simon Taylor - Organiser of "EL Going Live"Simon Taylor I have been with EL about 3 years and started hosting events about a year ago. Being a keyboard player and playing in a band, I
have a real passion for music and so most of my events have a musical theme. Firstly I do regular Karaoke nights in Central London at a fantastic
venue with a very lively bar and a great sound Daniella King - Founder, the EL Book Club, Walking Tours, EL Pub CrawlsI've been a member of EL since 1999 and have regularly hosted events for the last couple of years.
It can be daunting when you first join the club going to your first event but do persevere and try to attend as many events as you can after you have joined. I've made some great friends from joining the club and been to some very enjoyable events. Rahamon Kabiawu - Regular EL Host and Nightclub King!Working in a busy travel retail store gives me a sense of purpose in life, not just in terms of maintaining a good lifestyle, but equally a desire to succeed and prosper. In retrospect, what attracted me to Entertaining London was the broad variety of social events, a large membership base, option to network and the passion to explore various strands of the London scene... I do tend to chill out to good hip hop, funky and old skool music. Like clubbing, dancing, a fine taste for good books and days out at the opera/theatre would not go a miss. Have an ultimate passion for contact sport, a die hard Arsenal fan, love to watch rugby, cricket and play football. As I love meeting new people, every time I host a club night/bar event for Entertaining London gives me a buzz in terms of giving new members, particularly at their first time at the club, a worthwhile experience. Elaine Garrod - Regular EL Events Host Including Culture, Cinema and Club NightsHi I'm Elaine Garrod and I've been hosting events since September 03. I've hosted a number of cinema events including "Pirates of the Caribbean" which
had us all going "arrrrrr" for a |

For
the past seven years, she has been the Director of Entertaining London and as such has often appeared with other EL members on television and
radio programmes as diverse as Channel 4's "Cutting Edge", "The Big Breakfast", BBC's "Would like to Meet", "Screen
Grabs", "Kilroy", Channel 5's "The People vs Jerry Sadowitz", Jerry Springer (!), BBC London Live, London Talkback Radio,
LBC. Her many interests include all styles of music from classical to R 'n' B, all-night clubbing, skiing, swimming, keeping fit at the gym,
walking, theatre, parties, languages and socialising. She has also picked up some unusual skills in her time such as being able to ride a unicycle
and perform a double 360 on a skateboard…..(Well that was 20 years ago so don't ask)! Amelia hosts a wide variety of events for EL, including
the Tuesday Club nights, large parties and Saturday "All Night Extravaganzas!"
system.
Some of the singers are really excellent and everyone who goes always seems to have a great time regardless of whether they actually get up and
sing themselves - it's pretty much a guaranteed good night out! More recently I started a new concept called EL Going Live. Again it's centred
round music but this time it's more about going to see live bands (or solo artists). It's like a music-club within EL where we meet up once a
month and decide what gigs we would like to see and then organise events to actually go and see the acts we have chosen. Also at the regular
meetings, we have a team-based pop-quiz which is always great fun and an excellent ice-breaker for new EL members. The band I play in is called
Lost Boutique and although most of our gigs are private parties, if I am doing a gig open to the public you can be sure I will put it in the
EL program! Hope to see you at an EL Going Live or a Karaoke night soon.
I tend to be involved in some of the more cultural events such as visits to
museums and art galleries, as well as turning my hand at leading walking
tours around London. I also founded the EL Book Club - we meet once a month
to discuss the leading books of the day over a couple of tea. I also host
pub trips and visits to restaurants as well as joint hosting the bi-monthly
EL Pub Crawl. So - I think I have tried my hand at most types of events!
week or two afterwards, "Goodbye Lenin", "Love Actually" and "Girl with a
Pearl Earring" and "Starsky and Hutch". I also host visits to museums and exhibitions such as "Fashion and Culture" featuring
over 400 garments by Giorgio Armani and "Illuminating the Renaissance" bringing together 140 of the most important illuminated manuscripts,
at the Royal Academy of Arts. Other exhibitions I've hosted are the Dali Universe at the County Hall, an innovative new exhibition devoted to
the works of Spanish artist, Salvador Dalí and an exhibition of the works, life and times of scientist Henry Wellcome at the British Museum.
I sometimes also host Friday or Saturday night bar/pub events which are always well-attended.
